Where have all the campers gone?

Q: What is your name?

A: Meredith Walker

Q: When did you attend Manners Camp?

A: I started going to Manners Camp when I was 7.

Q: What do you remember about your camp experience?

A: I remember all my friends being there, how to shake hands, how to set a place setting at the dinner table, and how to introduce my friends to each other.

Q: Is this the only class you attended?

A: As I got older, I began to learn new skills at Manners Camp for Students and later, Mad About Manners program in middle school such as, writing an email, how to write a thank you note, and how to properly eat a 3-course meal.

Q: How has attending Manners Camp helped you up to this point?

A: Now that I am much older, I have realized just how much Manners Camp has impacted my life. I am in my last year of Nursing School at Auburn University. The skills I learned in the different levels of manners classes have helped me with Nursing school interviews, job interviews, how to interact with people that I work with, how to interact with my work manager, and professors. Effective communication has been a key factor for me.

Q: Are there any other thoughts you’d like to share?

A: I have always loved helping people and found a passion in caring for children. Thankfully, I was able to discover my love for children by working as a counselor at Manners Camp. What a wonderful experience!

Of course, I am partial to Meredith- she was an amazing student and camp counselor. She is also my niece, and I am very proud of the young woman she has become. Her story is among many that bring joy to my heart and keep me offering all of our year-round programs. We truly believe that what we invest in others will come back to us in the form of successes. If we learn to appreciate others, then we learn the value of life and the purposes for which we are placed here. I would love to share more of these stories! If you or your children have attended a Properly Polished manners program and would like to share your story please click the link below and a member of our team will reach out to you.
