What We Can Do...
It’s early and the sky is a mixture of blues and pinks as the remaining clouds are burned away by the morning sun. What a Gift-to be able to gaze upon God’s glorious creations - just to sit and be aware of His Presence all around.
My thoughts turn to you - children, parents, grandparents and I wonder if we have ever been Gifted with so much Time as we have right now. I remember something my sons’ kindergarten teacher (Ms. Shan) use to say, “Rarely do we have the opportunity to give our children the Gift of Time.” Well, that got me wondering what others are spending their time doing right now.
Children - perhaps your parents are juggling work and how to keep you busy but safe right now. Maybe you are wondering what you can do. There are so many ways that you can brighten other’s lives! Here are just a few:
Write Notes - If you have already, write again! Your friends and family will love getting them and it’s a way to send hugs and kisses right now. Be creative. Tell them how you are spending your time, draw them pictures, ask them to write back.
Send Flowers - Now that Spring has arrived, you can probably pick something from your own yard and deliver to someone’s door.
Clean out your closet - pack up what you don’t use, find out who does and send it to them.
Make your bed - every morning when you get up you can immediately accomplish something; and then pay attention to how this makes you feel.
Read - Take time tonight and read to your little brother, sister, Mom or Dad - take them on a journey beyond your own home through books or telling stories you make up yourself.
Play games with your family! - There are some fun and hilarious games. Create your own-all you need is a deck of cards.
Ask what You Can Do to help - pitch in and help around the house. There are lots of weeds to be pulled in the garden and leaves to be raked. Maybe a neighbor’s yard needs tending or walkways need to be swept. And please go for walks- there’s so much of His Creation God wants us all to enjoy.
These things and other random acts of love not only bring joy to others, but will fill your heart with joy also- this is the pure joy that God wants for all so let’s go get some!
Parents and Grandparents - Perhaps you are continuing to work- my heart goes out to you and all those who put themselves at risk for the safety of others you may not even know. Never have we ever had a greater opportunity to teach others how to make this a better place to live in, best taught by example. Our world is changed-and it’s up to us- children, parents and grandparents alike-as to what that’s ultimately going to look like.
